The Optimist is an international class, which is designed specifically for children and is a great boat for beginners. There is also a highly competetive racing fleet, with children competing from as young as six. 
The award winning Topper has probably introduced more people into sailing tha any other boat. It's fun, easy to handle, and an ideal boat for adults and children alike. 
The laser is a single handed racing dinghy. A very popular boat with a huge following around the world. The sail size can be changed to suit the weight if the sailor, creating three classes, the laser 4.7, laser radial, and the laser 1. 
The laser II is a popular double handed racing boat. Although light it has both a spiniker and trapeeze wires: this makes it an exciting boat to sail and race.
